struggling businessIf Your Business Is Struggling, You Do Have Options.

By Jackie Stewart

My husband has owned his own business for almost nine years now and It is amazing to watch how resilient he is. He owns a Real Estate and Mortgage Company and over the past year things have really started to head south for him. I have learned so much about business just watching him.

What is interesting is that he made as many bad decisions as he has good ones yet he never gives up. This past week he did something that I am sure was very tough on him, yet because of his family he did it. He sold his real estate company and he gave up his mortgage company.

He found a company to work with where he gets a very high commission and where he can rebuild his team when the time is right yet he realized after he had sunk thousands of dollars a month into keeping it going that it was time to step back and make some tough decisions.

A few days back he came to me and told me that one of his builder friends and he are buying a wine shop. At first my heart sunk because I had seen him struggle over the past few months with the real estate and mortgage companies. One part of me wants him to go back and get a “real job”, yet his passion for what he does is infectious and he is like the energizer bunny when it comes to his spirit.

I could not in all good conscience tell him that I had lost faith in him or his dreams. I do doubt at times and I think that is only natural. I pray to God that this one is a winner for him. He plans to pay the bills with the mortgage business while they work as a team to build the wine shop.

I has spoken to a counselor at S.C.O.R.E. (www.score.org) and he was told that his plan is sound and the way they are building it by putting all of the capital back into the business for the first two years is very smart. Sometimes faith is the most important factor or trait that you have in business.

If your business is struggling do not think that you are failing if you step back and redirect your attention, that is life at times. Do not give up on your dream just be willing to redirect or be flexible on the plan to get you there.

find fulfillmentFind Fulfillment Until You Can Live Your Dream

By: Ashley Laine

For so long I did what I was supposed to do with my life. I was doing what everyone else wanted me to do and I was miserable. I was adequate, yet I did not shine at anything I did. I have always worked hard as I am sure most of you have, yet at the end of the day I was still tired and unfulfilled.

One day I sat and spoke to a friend named Judy. She told me that I would already be successful if I would just focus and find something I loved to do. I was dabbling in this and that and not really giving any of it my all. I felt torn, because I did not want to give up on one thing because I wanted to keep my options open. I was taught at a young age that if you quit you fail.

My family needed my income, so quitting was not an option. So I found fulfillment in what I was doing, until I could find and do what I loved. Fist, I sat down and made a list of everything I was good at and everything I hated to do. Once I had these two lists then I was able to hire an assistant to do those things that I did not like to do and I was able to focus on my talents and strengths.

I started succeeding more consistently and my income started increasing as well. I could easily afford the $12 per hour my assistant cost and I as able to focus. Judy was right, I just had to find my own way to define and use her advice. Stay true to your talents and delegate out those things you are not good at or those things you do not like to do.

Unfortunately, there will still be days you want to hit the snooze alarm ten times because you have to do something that you hate to do, yet as a whole my life improved significantly because I was living my talents until I could find and live my dreams. I hope this helps you find a bit of joy in your own life.

How To Grow Your Sales In a Down Economy PDF Print E-mail

make more money - dont waste timeHow To Grow Your Sales In a Down Economy

By Ashley Laine

So the Economists tell us that we are not in a recession and that large companies are doing better than ever, yet so many of my small business friends are struggling to build their business right now. I do small business consulting at times and I find the same mistakes over and over again that is keeping people from really taking off in their business no matter what the economy is.

You have two things that matter in building a business, one is how you build revenue and the other is how you control expense. Many of us as small business owners focus on the control expense part, yet we often do it at the expense of truly creating the revenue we could if we did a couple of key things.

Fear of Failure, How I Succeed In Spite of It PDF Print E-mail

Fear of Failure | Fear of SuccessFear of Failure, How I Succeed In Spite of It

By Ashley Laine

Fear of Failure is one of the most common reasons people do not go into business. My family and I went to the pool this summer and my husband was taking, Blake my son into the deeper water and I frantically called out for him to stay in the shallow end of the pool.

I am not sure what caused me to do such a thing. There was a lifeguard on duty, my Husband is a good swimmer, and my son had his floats on. For some reason I came back to that episode in my mind when my mother told me that I should not move forward with my passion and my business because I might get disappointed or fail.

I heard myself in her voice and cringed inside. How often had I done this? Now I am not one to outright say no to my husband or my kids, I am much better at being passive aggressive. It still comes down to my fear of failing.

A Way To Pay For Christmas This Year PDF Print E-mail

earn extra money onlineA Way To Pay For Christmas This Year

By: Ashley Laine

There are so many money making schemes online. It was refreshing to see a way to make a few extra bucks legitimately. You just have to take an online survey and you get paid for it. Clean and simple.

A little extra money this time of year is always a helpful thing. Many of us have extra time and instead of watching videos, or getting on MySpace, you can actually make some real money by taking online surveys.

Like anything else it does take a little bit of time. Give it a try. You could actually pay for your kids Christmas gifts in just a few short hours. Things are tough for many of us and a way to pay the gas bill or light bill can go a long way. I hope this helps.

I take the surveys while I am watching TV. I have made thirty dollars in an hour. That is better than many of us make on our jobs. It is free so give it a try.

Take easy surveys and get paid for your time and opinion
